Wayne,
Dear Jill,
I am not sure whether we have communicated previously. My ancestor James Gimbert born around 1810 was transported as a convict for 7 years to N.S.W. in 1828. He married a Mary Jane Mahony in 1837 in Sydney and I think Mary Jane was a descendant????
Please reply as I would love to share any information.

Dear Paul, Mary Jane McCabe was a descendant of John Gimbert of Whingen, which is around Murrarundi. Your ancestor was James who came here before the other Gimberts, namely Ephraim and wife Sarah with 2 children and one sister. Could you please let me know if there is any connection between the 2 families, which i know there must be, but what it is i can't find out. Was James a brother to Ephraim, cousin or what, they both came from around the same area of England, namely Sutton, Isle of Ely, the last pagan stronghold in England in those days. please answer if you have any info. alison gimbert.

Hi again Wayne, as soon as I can get the time I will type up and send you a copy of the family tree as I have it. regards alison gimbert.

Hi Paul - we must be related somehow. Mary (‘Molly’) Jane GIMBERT (1863-1942) was my maternal grandmother's grandmother ... Glad of any information you can offer.
Regards, Erica

Yes we could be related. Do you have Hackneys in your family tree?
|
Alice May HACKNEY (1890-1960) is my maternal great-grandmother.
|
Alice May would be Great grand aunt. Was she the daughter of David Hackney who was my Great grandfather?
Cheers,
Paul
