From Catherine:
Occupation - farmer
Church - Knocknamuckley Church of Ireland

Home - Townland of Legacurry (house was called Rosebank). Legacurry is beside Legahory and the townland names seem to be somewhat interchangeable in some records. He also lived at 'Moyraverty' and 'Clanrolla' at some point. The former appears to be where he was born and lived as a child. I am unsure whether records refer to Moyraverty the townland in general or a house known to my Grandfather as 'Moyraverty' which clearly stayed in the family as my Grandfather visited relatives there when he was young. William is listed as living at 'Clanrolla' in the 1879 census. I suspect this refers to 'Clanrolla House', another home which stayed in the family and my Grandfather also visited as a child. I think I sent you a photo of the derelict farmhouse a while ago. I labour on these place names of course, as I realise they pop up frequently in Bill's lineage - that of John and Jane (nee Lewis) Gilpin. As my Grandfather refers to the
> Lewises as cousins of his fathers there must a strong link. Fairly speculative and circumstantial but so many common names and placenames strongly suggest this. I suspect my William Gilpin was another son of John and Jane, or at the very least, a nephew. I hope there are some records available that may close this link - I understand his birth year is too early for both civil records and existing Knocknamuckley church records and I already know it is not in the Seagoe Church records. Perhaps a marriage certificate or the will transcript may have some more clues.
