In the Griffith's Valuation of the late 1850's there were two townlands in Cavan with GILPIN in them.
Laheen, Parish of Killashandra is the most likely one for you as Richard Gilpin had 24 acres with a house, offices and land, indicating that he was a farmer.
North of Killashandra Parish was the Parish of Kildallan that had listings with no homes shown:
1. James and William GILPIN - townland of Cornahaia land only
2. Richard GILPIN - townland of Evlaghbeg, bog only
