Hi:) No, we do not have any documentation. My sister was corresponding with a descendant of John Jr. (John and Elizabeth's son). It went John Jr., Robert, George, Mary Elizabeth and then Peg (who she was corresponding with). My sister asked where she got the information from and it came from a cousin in CA. This was in 1998. We have been searching since for a document. We are from William (John Jr.'s brother), George Washington Gilpin, Lawrence, Harry and us. The closest document we have to knowing John's wife, is a copy of a land deed from 1840 between John and Elizabeth Gilpin to William and Anna Gilpin. We just this year received a copy of Col. George Gilpin's will listing a son John. We also found a John Gilpin in business with Col. George in Alexandria, VA. That is the closest we have on John's father. Will be glad to discuss this more.
