There's a small town called Gilbert in Mingo Co., WV which is in the extreme southwest corner of the state. Mingo Co. borders both KY and VA, so Gilbert is only a stone's throw away.
I queried Mingo Co. researchers regarding the namesake of the town, and here is the interesting response I got. Does anyone happen to know who this Joseph Gilbert is?
Thanks.
Jane
