James Gilbane and Mary Anne Gill married in Leitrim in 1881 and lived in Aughriman South near Carrick-on-Shannon

Baptism records from the Kiltoghert Parish Register give the following children:

2. Mary Ellen Kilbane, bapt. 14 Nov. 1883, sponsors: John Kilbane and Jane Gill
3. Margaret Anne Kilbane, bapt. __ March 1885, sponsors: John ? (possibly Fox) and Rose Kilbane
4. John Gilbane, bapt. abt. 13 April 1886, sponsors: John Gilbane and Jane Gill
5. Francis Gilbane, Twin, bapt. 28 April 1887, sponsors: Patrick Gilbane and Anne Gilbane
6. James Gilbane, Twin, bapt. 28 April 1887, sponsors: Bernard Gilbane and ? Gill (poss Jane Gill)
7. Michael Kilbane, bapt 18 July 1888, sponsors: John Gill and Bridget Gilbane
8. William Kilbane, bapt. 14 May 1890, sponsors: Francis Gill and Jane Gill
9. Peter Gilbane, bapt. 18 June 1891, sponsors: Michael Gill and Jane Gill

The following children of this couple are taken from the 1901 census

10. Jane Gilbane, b. abt 1894
11. Kate Gilbane, b. abt 1895
12. Joseph Gilbane, b. abt. 1896
13. Lizzie Gilbane, b. abt 1897
14. Bridget Gilbane, b. abt 1898

In the Kiltoghert Parish Register the name varies in spelling from Gilbane to Kilbane.

I'm looking for other Gilbanes who are interested in this couple. I believe James is the brother of my GGF John Gilbane who also lived in Aughriman South, Leitrim.

hello,
i am the granddaughter of kate gilbane who was born to james and maryanne in 1894 ( correct date).
she died in 1986 . i am looking for any information you may have on the gilbanes.
my grandmother married daniel cronin and had 6 children. she settled in new haven , ct and later in branford.
i was so surprised to see all of your information because i remember she told me that she had twin brothers who died in the watering hole - one was saving the life of other. i also thought she said her mother had 2 sets of twins.

I am related to Gilbanes on my McLoughlin side who all come from Kiltoghert. I have connected with Gilbanes orignally from there who reside all over (England, Australia, etc). I'll look up my records and send you some contact information.

My familly also came from Kiltoghert. Thomas and Bridgit Gilbane left in 1844 and came to Rhode Island in the USA. I'd love to look at whatever recoreds you have.
