Hi Mary,
No apologies needed. I was hoping that you might have come across something that would tie Mary Anne and Jane together. I'd originally made the sister assumption until I organized the children into my genealogy program. Only then did I realize there must be 2 families.
Thank you so much for the info on Bridget. If I was paying attention to my elderly (90+ year old) cousins, I might have eventually tried the Kelly surname for Bridget (someday). They have told me a story of a Kelly cousin (Patrick they thought) coming to visit them in Lynn, they think back in the 50's. He was a policeman or fireman in New York City, but they weren't sure about his first name and didn't remember who the parents were. I never connected him with Bridget. Thank you so much.
As far as I know, there are no registers online that you can purchase. But with the LDS indexing project, maybe we'll have that data at our fingertips soon. Anyone that's interested can volunteer to do some indexing. I got my stuff the old fashiioned way, hunched over the microfilm machine transcribing the data with pencil & paper. The indexing is much easier and can be done from home - I've done some myself.
I've got lots of notes from the registers and I'm more than willing to share this data. Let me know if there's something I can help with. I don't have much on James Gilbane and Ellen Paden - just what you have. You are right about the scanty info in the earlier registers - no townland, no mother's name on marriages, no spouse or parents for deaths/funerals.
I'm still at
barb5ked@aol.com.
Thanks for all your help.
Jane
