My grandfather, Jose German Gil Meco was born in Madrid Spain on May 25 or 26 in 1893. His parents were Matias Gil and Andrea Meco. Matias' mother was Francesca Gil, had 21 children, 19 of them boys. Any additional info would be great. Am willing to exchange info.

I am helping my niece trace her ancestry. Her grandmother's name is Francisca Gil Trevino. She was born early 1900's in Weslaco, Tx. She was named after her great-grandmother. You may contact her at above e-mail. Gracias.

Do you know of any other relatives? I think there is a possibility that we maybe related.

I'm not sure how much more I can give you.
My grandfather emigrated to Buenos Aires Argentina in his youth,
married my grandmother there in 1919.
When my dad came to the US, his parents came a few years later.
My grandfather died here in 1972.
I know he had one sister, but I believe she never married.
My sister has a miniature painting of his grandmother, Francesca Gil.
All I know is that he came from Madrid. Born 5/26-28/1893.
Once I can find more info, I will let you know.

I read your information abouth the Gil family coming to south america, it's amazing how close the information is. My great Grand parents also came from Spain, and instead of stopping in Argentina, they settled in Colombia, South America. My preliminary information, and I'm still working on it, confirms that your ancestors were actually related to mine...amazing ah..? please reply. Thanks. I'm in Orlando Florida.

Hello. I'm just finding this genealogy study, more and more interesting...I suposse, your guess is as good as mine...unfortunately our great, great, uncles are not around so we may have to continue our research. I feel though the relationship has to be there...sometime, somewhere, but it has too.. Happy new year...Cousin?

Yes my grandfather is also from southern spain, he left during the Spanish revelution to Portugal and then the Azores, his brothers went to Brazil, one of the brothers Died in the Azores, his name was Juaquim Gil, he was a gifted musician. When I was Kid two of his brothers visited from Brazil. Is there a chance we are related! I worked on a project in England and visited Marabela Spain, and I must say some of the Gil's there had striking resemblance to me and the Gil side of my Family. The mayor of Marabala in 1989 was Antonio Gil, he looks like my dad's twin brother.
