I have been researching the N.B. Giggeys and have not been able to find when they came into Canada - are they connected to the Giggeys in Maine?

Emma 30; British; born in N.B.; Loyalist

William J. 6; born in N.B.
Sarah J. 4; born in N.B.
Charlotte A. 2; born in N.B.
James F. Inf.; born in N.B.

GIGGEY
John 42; British; Farmer/Prop; born in N.B.; Loyalist
Rebecca 38 British; born in N.B.; Loyalist
Catherine 19; born in N.B.
Thomas W. 17; born in N.B.
Margaret R. 15; born in N.B.
Lydia J. 13; born in N.B.
George E. 11; born in N.B.
Charlotte A. 9; born in N.B.
Uriah N. 7; born in N.B.
James H. 5; born in N.B.
John W. 2; born in N.B.

Look forward to hearing from anyone who may have some information... Shirley

Hi Shirley, None of the names you listed is on my list. But, they could be a lot earlier than I have records for. If I get anything new, I will list it. I do think my Giggeys probably came from that area.

Loyalist of N.B. (pg.285) lists John giggie Loyal American Regiment with a grant in Kings Co. This is Peter Giggies father , his son John was my ggg grandfather. His son Henry William's family did end up in Maine. My Grandmother, daughter of Delia Giggie was born in fort fairfield Maine.

Sheliah... I have John and I know about Peter and now there is your John - was this the John Giggey b. 1809 who married Rebecca Golding? And do you have names of other known siblings of Peter and your John? I have reason to believe that my line is from from a sibling of Peter's. Please email me at olfert5star@telusplanet.net

John Giggey's father was also named John Giggey. John Giggey, Sr., was a Loyalist who fought with the British during the Revolutionary War and then emigrated to New Brunswick along with many other Loyalist families in 1783-4.

Here's an interesting thread by someone doing research on John Giggey (also spelled a few other ways in the old records):
