Hello,

My name is Joy and I am the 4th great grandniece of Abigail Brewer (and Samuel Farley). I have been working on the Tompkins line for a few years now.
Abigail's mom's husband, John Roger Tompkins is my 5th great grandfather.
I do have lots of info if you would like to share.
I have the 'Guiggy' line in my Tompkins line, but not 'Giggy'.
Folks I have...Elizabeth Guiggy (1793) married Roger Tompkins(1790). He is Abigail and John Roger Tompkins'son. Roger's sister, Mary, married Christopher Guiggy (about 1800) Not sure if there is a relation there.
Mary and Christopher had:
Elizabeth,Sophrona, Elthea/Althea, Miriam, and Margaret.
Let me know if any of this makes sense. Feel free to contact me.

Your James Edward Giggey "James" b. 1811/1812, was the son of William and Catherine Giggey. He was baptized Feb 25, 1838 as an adult, in Trinity Anglican Church, Kingston, NB and married Elizabeth Carvell Feb 15, 1838 in St. Johns, NB. James was a ship captain and died at sea Dec 23, 1848 enroute to Barbados on the Brig. "Ward".

There appear to be FOUR James Edward Giggeys born before 1850 in New Brunswick. The other 3 are:
1. James Edward Giggey "Edward" b. May 24, 1803 , son of Thomas Giguey/Giggey, who married Mary Bishop on nov 7, 1838 in Andover, Carleton Co, NB, was a lumberman, and died Sep 8, 1905 in Ft. Fairfield, ME (this is my line)

2. James Edward Giggey, b. 1817 in Westfield, Kings Co, NB, son of William and Elizabeth Giggey (Wiliam died 1858). James Edward married Emma Mullins in 1842 and lived on the Kingston Penninsula, NB. He was a ship carpenter and died in 1886 [Jim Leggett - leggett@nbnet.nb.ca]

3. James Edward Gigey "Edward". b. 1847, son of your James Edward above.

I have several pages of Giggey General Information that might interest you. Send me your email address and I will send it.

HI,

I am trying to track down information on Margaret Anne Giggey, born Oct 1882 in New Brunswick (Tracy mills???). Married to Harvey L Nelson April 24, 1900 and move to Presque Isle. I have all their descendant information, and the Nelson ancestry but I cannot find her parents. If you can help me fill in the gap I would appreciate any help you can gve.

Thanks,

Hello

I am an Ancestry.com member and I noticed you putting something up about the Giggey family.  I have an ancestor named Mary Giggey, reportedly the daughter of a John Giggey of Ireland or Scotland.

I am keen to learn more about the Giggey line. However, I also wonder if there is a Native American connection there because a number of Giggeys in New Brunswick listed themselves as 'native'.  I also have a photo of Mary Giggey and she certainly appears a bit Indian.  Do you have any info on this?

Kind regards

Steve

You did not say when Mary or John were born. My John Giggy was born c. 1755 in Antrim County, N. Ireland and came to America before 1779. Lived in Orange Co, NY, married Mary ?? in 1779. He was a Loyalist (loyal to Britain during the Rev. War) and lost his land at the end of the War.
He settled in Westfield, Kings Co, NB by 1800. One of his 8 children was named Mary (for his wife) born ib 1787. She died inn 1863 in Kane, IL. Is this your ancestor?
The best source of Giggey information is Richard Martel (rmartel@swbell.net. He has a group of Giggey searchers who share notes on uknknown family members too.

Good luck.
