I am in need of information on the place of death and/or burial for Abigail (Higgins) Giffin Hubbell Henderson.

Abigail Higgins: b. 29 Jul 1737, Eastham, MA; daughter of Elisha and Hannah (Doane) Higgins; d. 24 Nov 1798.

Abigail Higgins married first Simon Giffin Jr. in 1761 and divorced in 1766-7. She married secondly Elnathan Hubbell of Bennington, VT in 1775; and thirdly James Henderson of White Creek, NY in 1792. Simon and Abigail had three children, born in Hardwick, MA: Edward, James, and David Doane. Elnathan and Abigail had two children: Almerin and Experience. James Henderson and Abigail had no issue.

It has been presumed Abigail died in Fort Ann, NY in 1798. However, no record has been found there, or in Bennington, VT where her parents and first husband are buried. James Henderson lived in White Creek, NY, but there is no record of her there. A recent review of an old DAR worksheet had a hand-written note stating that she died and is buried in Maitland, Ontario, Canada. This is interesting because her son James lived in Maitland, but no time frame is known. He died there in 1823. David her youngest son lived in Fort Ann about the time of her death, but in 1800 was living in Oswegatchie, St. Lawrence Co., NY. David's farm is directly across the river from Maitland, Ontario. Abigail's death in Maitland would explain the lack of any death record in New York and Vermont. There are reportedly five graves at the Giffin farm, three are known: David and wife Jerusha, and brother Edward.

Information provided should be from a primary source such as a bible or church record. Acceptable secondary sources should be from local histories, family genealogy, gravestone, obituary, or a published transcription.

I am interested in hearing from anybody who might have information on Abigail's life events.

HI
My 6G grandfather was James Henderson of Oakham, Ma/Salem,NY also researching what happen to James and Abigail after there marriage 1792...Found Deed Transfers in Washington County were James and Abigail sold their property in Salem in 1793.

I am planning a trip to Ogdensburg, NY / Ontario Canada towns of Prescott,,Maitland and Cramahe Found census records for Cramahe for James Senior and James Junior for the years
of 1802 to 1811 do not know if same James Henderson yet, but his daughter Rachel Henderson Ward moved there in about 1796 and also was a residence during that time.

If you have developed any other info on this subject please let me know

Also another note I find interesting is that David Giffin lived in the same town of Oswegatchie, St Lawrence County, NY as David Jones a family friend of James Henderson and brother in law to James son Rufus C. Henderson who married Ann Jones daughter of David Jones brother Soloman who lived in Prescott and Augusta Township Canada across the river

Hope you reply
Thanks
