to Dick Giffen and MHastingsHendrix,

I have been researching my family line for a relatively short time (since the beginning of 2003, basically), and have been working on the "other side". Recently, I began looking at "this side", beginning with my grandparents, Harold Nichol Mintier and Virginia Esterquist. Mabel/Mabelle Sleeth Esterquist/Esterquest, Virginia's mother, was Libbia's sister. (She was known as "Boda" to our family, to Mabel's "Nana".)

I have a genealogy written by my grand aunt Wilma McCune Mintier following the Mintier line back, but while I have some, it's very little, information on the Giffen line. (I have not used the prior genealogy, yet... I found errors in a couple from the "other side". So far, I've been researching almost everything online, mostly through Ancestry images/records.)

I did find a bio on Samuel "Giffin" from ("History of Belmont and Jefferson Counties, OH" by Caldwell, pub. 1880) at http://members.tripod.com/~debmurray/ohio/belbioref-7.htm#sg.... By names and dates, he appears to be Libbia's father-in-law. It mentions his father, John, who came from Ireland, but does not mention his mother. Nor does it mention anything about the Kerr line, other than Margaret, Samuel's wife. (Just in case you didn't know about it.)

Please, if either of your emails are still valid, or you read this, get in touch with me at bigdaddywds@hotmail.com. I believe we have a lot of information to share with each other! ;-)

Thanks,
Bill Sanders

Hi,

Do you by chance have any data on Catherine[?] Giffens. She married Thomas Burke and they had a daughter, Bridget born about 1860 in Co Galway Ireland? Bridget was my great grandmother.

Best regards,

Jim Burnell-Gray

John. I am still waiting for the info you said you would send.

We were up to Jessie Giffin's grave today. I would like to get a gravestone for her. Will e-mail the others to see if anyone would care to contribute. (Will also check on pricing)

ps: I was told the baby was buried with her. Is that true? How old was he when he died?
