Hello,
I am looking for information on the surname Giffear. I know that my father's family was based in Philadelphia. I only know my grandparent's name and loose track of the Giffears at that point.
I would love to hear from any Giffears! I know there are a few in the Philadelphia area and would like to contact several people to see if there is interest in meeting and discussing our common, but highly uncommon, surname.

I am so excited to here from you! My grandfather's name was James Giffear. I know he had several brothers in Philadelphia. My dad told me a story about some falling out among the brothers as the explanation why he never met any of his uncles. I would love to know if your grandfather had a brother James. I grew up in PA but now live in Massachusetts. I visit cousins in PA and NJ every now and then. Feel free to e-mail me at my hotmail account or on the surname message board. Now that someone has replied I will check both accounts more frequently. I look forward to hearing from you! Michele

I have not heard from you in awhile. My father just got more information that takes us back to about 1830. The name Peter and Charles Giffear appears. We are going to Center City Philaldephia in a couple days to find more information. We would like to speak to you. We also found a William U Giffear who was a still born that died 1908. Who lived at 2700 block of York Street in Philadelphia. The father's name was William U. Giffear and the mother's name was Isbella Sloan. Who is unknow to us right now? This Giffear family lived 2-3 blocks from the other Giffear family. Which would be my father's Great Grandfather. Does this ring a bell to you? Please get back us. I would really like to know more about my family history. I hope to hear from you soon.
Sorry for the long delay
Chrissey

Hi,
We bought a house at the end of July and moved at the end of August, so we've been really busy. Also, our new town doesn't have broadband service yet so checking e-mail is a time consuming process for me. We expect to get connected again at the end of this month- I can't wait!
Actually, I know my dad spoke about a Billy Giffear who I think was his great-grandfather. York street also sounds familiar but I am not positive so I will mention it to my cousin and see what he can add. My new telephone number is 508-785-1084 if you want to give me a call.
A couple years ago for fun I searched the web for "Giffear" and I think her name was Cheryl Giffear who had a General Hospital chat room or web site. I was not able to track her beyond that so I thought I might mention it to you in case you have already connected with her.
Thanks for e-mailing me with that info. Talk to you later, Michele.
