I'm interested if there is anyone out there with MO Giddens connections? My ggg grandfather, Samuel F. Giddens, and 3 of his 5 sons left Arkansas and went on foot to Rolla, MO to enlist in the Union Army. Samuel F. died of pneumonia shortly after enlisting. One of the sons, Samuel Bradford (my gg grandfather) remained in MO after the war. I do not know about the other two (John B. and Archibold R.).

Samuel F. was the s/o Roger Gideon (Samuel F. changed his name to Giddens for unknown reasons) and Roger was the s/o either Reuben or Frank Edward Gideon, half brothers of James Isham Gideon. These 3 brothers came to America in 1764 from Dublin, Ireland.

Samuel Bradford (known as "Brad") married Sarah Amanda Buckner in Licking, MO and from there they moved to Ozark, then Marshfield, then Mt. View and ultimately to Hartshorn.

Would appreciate hearing from anyone for whom these names ring a bell.
Thanks, Sharon Curnutt Korst

Do you know if Samuel F Giddens had a son named Samuel Bradley Giddens? I believe he is my great grandfather and was buried in Hartshorn, MO in Texas Co. I vaguely remember seeing a genealogy paper that my father had many years ago which I believe mentioned Elizabeth Brown.

Surnames: Giddens, Reuben
Reuben Giddens is my GGGG GF that married Nancy Stratton in Wilkes Co. N.C. in 1797. I have letter that make me wonder if his grandfather was named Reuben Giddens of the Amer Rev War. The letter talkes of James and Roger Giddens and then to Tenn and then to Judge Giddens of the Ozarks.

Sarah Amanda "Mandy" Buckner was my husbands side of the family. I have a 951 page book I published on the Buckner family. My husband's grandmother was named after Sarah Amanda Buckner. Her name was Amanda Jane Buckner Wood and is buried in Pulaski Co. Mo. at the Nelson Wood cemetery. swood@rollanet.org
