Have you come across a WASHINGTON GIBBS who settled in this area of Hyde,NC? Said to have received a land grant from the king of England along with two other wealthy men. One of the others was a PETTIGREW. I was told that Washington Gibbs was given land in the DARK WOODS area of Mattamuskeet...the PETTIGREW gentleman settled on LAKE PHELPS. I do not have the name of the third person.
