I'm looking to connect with other decendants. My grandmother was Maria (Minnie) Gibbard, her father was George Gibbard (1840) Padbury, who's father was James Gibbard 1804, who's father was John Gibbard (1774) etc.

Leta,

I would be interested in getting in touch about this line. We have John GIBBARD (b. 1774) in our tree but had no descendants (yet) so would be keen to see the details you have and the sources you've used.

I realise you posted this message some time ago so I do hope this is still relevant.

Best wishes,

John Gibbard (jodimmock is my wife's account)

Dear Ms Pedersen,

I have just come across your request for details of the Gibbard's of Padbury and, judging from your messages, I think we are distantly related. You will see the family tree generated by my cousin's son who has traced our family. I was born in 1949, not 1950 but the rest is broadly accurate.

Our parents used to take us to Padbury to visit our relations there in the 1950s to early 1960s.

Hope this helps you.

regards,

Phil Gibbard

I just read you post, I'm not sure why I didn't notice back in November. Perhaps I just missed it?

Anyways it great to connect, I would love hear if you have any family stories or other photos. Thank you so much for a copy of your tree.

Do you live in England? I was in England in 2004 prior to my family research so I've never been to Padbury but would love to visit sometime.

My husband and I are planning a trip to Denmark/Finland in 2011 - that's the origin of my paternal side.

If you would like to communicate further you are welcome to use my regular email - pedersen@storm.ca

Do you have a Maria Gibbard anywhere in your tree? She married Charles Taylor just prior to immigrating to Canada in 1870 or thereabouts.

Thanks for any help

Sorry no. The 1870s were a busy time for leaving Padbury. My great-great grandfather and his wife both left (seperately) Padbury in the 1870s. There is this Maria http://bgibbard.ca/genealogy/getperson.php?personID=I955&...
whose great grandfather was in my tree. (I am sure all Padbury Gibbards descended from the one family)
You will see that this Maria emigrated in 1858.

When I emailed you yesterday I didn't have my records in front of me. I checked my files this morning and our Maria Gibbard married in 1858 and left for Canada with her new husband. She was born 25 Sept. 1835 but I've been unable to find her parents.

I wasn't able to open the link you put in your message - it's giving me the infamous 404 message. Can you check it again -
