Interested in the gibberd family
I am a Gibberd from new zealand, as far as i know our family is the only Gibberds in NZ. I found it was fastinating to know there are so many more out there. Our family comes from John parry Gibberd , Who was an only child, (one of twins ) his father was from a taylor backround, in England.

Re: Interested in the gibberd family
I am John Frederick Gibberd, Coventry, England. My father was David. Grandfather was Fred. Great Grandfather Alfred Ernest. Great Great Grandfather John Parry Gibberd. His wife was Mary Ann Linney. His father was John Gibberd and his mother Mary Parry. Our menswear shop in Coventry is closing down this year as my brother and I wish to retire. The first clothing shop I can find was in Bedworth 1811 run by John Parry Gibberds father. Gibberds were in the cloth trade in Coventry in the 1700's. I have traced the family back to Humphrey Gilbart who was a farmer. I have more information if you want it.

Re: Interested in the gibberd family
Wow, just found this thread again. thank you for your info, you sound like you are the relations from my Grandfathers life. It seems sad that you have closed the store now. i think there is a photo of it from my grandparents visit awile ago. They Both now have Passed Away. We were just discussing Grandads Twin sister Who Died at a young Age, and trying to find out where she is buried. My Parents Ernie And Pauline Gibberd found Ellen Gibberds Grave stone at MOrinsville just recently.Any way thanks so much for your reply even though this is a few years late!. Go well .Would love to see the country At some stage.and go a visit the world!
All the best Ange.
