Hello Sarah

As you posted this message way back in 2002, you probably have all the information you requested. I'm currently researching all the Gibbard families in Oxfordshire trying to find links to my particular interest - the Gibbards of Fencott/Murcott. Your George was born in Great Tew s/o Joseph and Rachel and I have extracted all the Gibbard information from the Great Tew Parish register if it's of interest to you. Regards Carol

Hi Carol

Thanks for getting in touch, yes I have advanced with my Gibbards since my message posting......... but I don't have parish register info!

I know of Richard Gibbard b: abt 1860 Gt Tew, William Gibbard b: abt 1861 Gt Tew and George Gibbard b: 1863 Gt Tew. Their parents were Jospeh Gibbard and Rachel Gough married 15.12.1857 Gt Tew.

Can you elaborate more on birth dates/ baptisms? Look forward to hearing from you.

regards

Sarah

Hi Sarah

I can certainly help with dates etc from the Parish registers and am building quite a large descendancy sheet for your George from Great Tew/Maidenhead so if you'd like to contact me on carol@alansmith.co.uk I can email it to you.

There's a very eerie coincidence here - he lived at 59 Garden Cottages in Maidenhead. My Gibbard connection is through my mother's father - his mother married twice, the second time to a Gibbard who may or not be connected to your Great Tew ancestors. My mother's mother was a Pearce and her elder brother lived in Garden Cottages in the early 1900's - not sure which one - but his name was also George! Garden Cottages was a row of three very long terrace blocks, the front row of which faced the allottments - hence Garden Cottages, I presume. They have long since been knocked down and the whole area has been redeveloped.

Kind regards
Carol

Hello

I am currently researching the Gibbard families of Banbury, Oxfordshire especially an Edward Gibbard who married Clara Penn (my maternal Great Grandmother). Edward was born in 1865 and Clara about 1867 ( I am told on the canal barges). They came from Neithrop which I believe was part of Banbury.
Do you have any information that may help me.

Many thanks
