If anyone is researching the GIBB family in the Bathgate/Broxburn/Linlithgow areas? I have a number of death intimation/wedding invitations etc relating to this family around the 1900s.
This family is no connection to me I just have some paperwork that may contain useful information for GIBB researchers.

Anything with a James Gibb and Elizabeth Gibb nee Whiles?
They were both born in Scotland around 1851 but no clue where in Scotland.
Thanks Wendy Sherratt Hogan Ontario, Canada

No, although my John GIbb was born 1851 too. Have you tried to find the 1881 census to see if you can locate?
|
I have found them on the 1901
James Gibb 50 born Scotland Elizabeth Gibb 43 born Scotland Elizabeth Gibb 15 born Surrey Wandsworth John Gibb 14 born Surrey Wandsworth Eliza Gibb 7 born Surrey Wandsworth Ellen Gibb 5 born Surrey Wandsworth [my grandmother]
James and Elizabeth were not married until 1889 so it appears James was previously married and the first two children were from that union.
In 1901 they were living at 2 Warples Road, Wandsworth, St. Faiths Parish. They were married in St. Saviour.

Great. Do you know parents? And did they migrate to US?
|
Sorry - mainly Peter Gibb & family.

No, do not know parents yet.
To my knowledge they stayed in England, my grandmother immigrated to Canada around 1920 after she met my grandfather in the war.
|
Interested in desendants of George GIBB b.1786 and Helen Cunningham m.1814 at Uphall, Linklithgowshire ,,,?
|
My grandfather's family migrated to Canada, but was from Scotland. His name was Frederick, married Florence Billett from england. His parents names were Robert Gibb or maybe arthur? Gibb and Mary Gibb.
|
Thanks for the reply Jennifer, however does not appear to be a connection.
My grandmother, Ellen Gibb was the only one who came over to Canada. To my knowledge, her parents and siblings stayed in Surrey, England - Wandsworth area.
