ANN ARBOR, MICH. - Helen Alice Giba, 96, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, formerly of Winchester Avenue in Youngstown, Ohio passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012 at Superior Woods Healthcare Center in Ypsilanti, Mich.
Helen was born April 9, 1915, in Campbell, Ohio a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Kraynak Kozak, and lived in the Youngstown, Mahoning County area for 88 years.
Mrs. Giba was a homemaker and was a member of the former St. Ann Church, and later of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown, where she was active in many groups.
Her husband, Joseph Giba, whom she married Sept. 8, 1937, passed away April 30, 1978.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Richard J. (Stephanie) Giba of Ann Arbor, John M. (Cynthia) Giba of Wonder Lake, Illinois, and Joseph J. Giba of Canton, Ga.; a daughter, Kathleen A. Giba of Greensboro, N.C.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Agnes Lechwar of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Helen will be dearly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Besides her husband, three brothers, Michael, Joseph and Larry Kozak; and three sisters Margaret Hodos, Ann Banyots and Theresa Balakoff, preceded her in death.
Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, at Nie Family Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Road in Ann Arbor.

A committal service will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, at Calvary Cemetery Chapel in Youngstown.
