Hiram Gholson was born October 3, 1807, probably in Hawkins County, TN. He and his family moved to Benton County, AR and he died there February 18, 1876. Hiram and his wife (Nancy - last name unknown) had at least nine children and they owned and operated an apple orchard in northwest Arkansas. Looking for information as to who Hiram's parents were and how this branch of the Gholson family links back to Anthony, et al.

I would very much like any available additional information on Hiram and his family. I too would like to learn who Hiram's parents were and how they fit into the Gholson family which originated in Virginia

Hi Charles,
I have come across some copies I made while living in Benton County Arkansas of the "Benton County Pioneer". I have "Civil War Experiences of a Benton County Youth" by J.G. Heaslet - the son-in-law of Hiram Gholson. In this he states his father-in-law, Hiram, emigrated from East Tennessee, Hawkins County in 1850, settling on the North fork of the Spavinaw, in Benton County. J.G. Heaslet married Hiram's youngest daughter, Anis, 12th. July 1866. Anis was born in Hawkins County, Tn 29 July 1850 and died 24 May 1918. Hiram Gholson died in Mason Valley 11 July 1890 and is buried in the Springtown Cemetery. The Gholson children were: Henry, George, Jane, Madison, John -who was killed by the Missouri Militia in Gordon Hollow, Benton County, Arkansas 1863, Pleasant, Mary, and Anis. The writer states that there were 10 children in all and that there was only one natural death by illness in the space of 85 years in this family. The rest of the artical is about the war. Good luck!

I just found a message that you wrote in 2004 about Hiram Gholson of Hawkins County, Tennessee. I was hoping that possibly you have found more info about his family. I'm doing the research for my husband. Hiram was his Great-great-great grandfather!! We would be thrilled to have any new info about his family. I have hit the "brick" wall.

Thanks in advance for any help you may give us!!

Judy
