Hi,
My great grandparents came to the US a long time ago from Northern Italy -- Turino, I believe. They settled in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Is my family the only Ghiardi's?

Hi Cindy, What a surprise I got when I read your message.Joe Ghiardi was my cousin. We were both born in Edri. PA which no longer exists. My family then moved to Avonmore. I now live in Munster, IN, close to Chicago. Your Aunt Sue is a really sweet person. Tell her I said hello. Are you from Indiana, PA?

Hi Sarah, My parents came from San Martino, which is near Turino. My father's name was Antonio and my mother was Maria Foghino. they settled in Edri.PA which was in Western Pennsylvania. My father had a brother Domenick, Pete, Louis and sisters Catherine and Domenica.
There is a James Ghiardi in Milwaukee. He was a law professor at Marquette University

I had grandparents named Ghiardi who lived in the Calumet, Mich., area of the U.P. in the early 1900's. I know there were more than one unrelated families up there with that name, however.

My maternal grandparents were John and Martina (Miglio) Ghiardi and lived in Calumet, Michigan before moving to Chicago in the 1920s. Martina was born in Calumet but her husband, John, was born in Italy, I think in Turino, but I'm not sure.

I happened upon this site and saw the name Ghiardi. My grandfather was Peter Ghiardi who lived in Kitanning, PA. He was married to Mary - had 3 children John (my father), Louis and Esther.

Dear Jill: I had an uncle named Pete Ghiardi. He was my father Antonio's brother. I believe that many years ago the family lived in Leechburg, PA, at least that is where I remember visiting them and playing with Esther. Is she still living?
|
Dear Peggy - Yes, my Aunt Esther is still living. She lives in New Kensington. Her brothers were Louis and John. Do you remember them? I didn't know my grandfather Pete as he passed away before I was born. I would love to hear any history or info. on the Ghiardi's.
