George H. Gheen is my 3rd greatgrandfather also. Never knew his middle name was Hamliton. I would like to have info on his parents or the parents of his wife Mary Ann Rutherford. Hit a dead end on both of these lines in my first searches about four years ago. They were married July 17, 1830 in Rowan Co. I am a descendant of their daug. Lucretia Gheen who married John Calvin Kimball.

Believe this man is brother of my ancestor Margaret Gheen b. 1800 Rowan Co. m. 1825 to Richard Locke Rowan Co. died 1836 Rowan Co.She was dau. of Joseph Gheen (James) and Anne Todd (Thomas Todd and Jean Simonton)Think there were at least two other brothers Joseph b. 1797-98, and Thomas b. 1804. All three of these men were listed in 1860 in same area. Margaret named oldest son Thomas Todd Locke - he moved to what is now Woodruff Co. AR. in 1858. Thomas T. Gheen (listed as 28 in 1860 Rowan Co. census and his wife Margaret also went to ARK.(Listed next door to George H. in 1860 census) In 1867 in Ark.Thomas T. Locke, Thomas T. (Todd?) Gheen and G. H. Gheen are all listed on bond of adm. of estate of John F. Locke I feel these two Gheen men were cousins of my Thomas Todd Locke. Have extensive records on James Gheen and his son Thomas Gheen -- George Hampton Gheen was not son of Thomas (James). Chil of George Hampton Gheen - David Brandon had a dau. Mary Ann Gheen - Mary Ann m. Fraley and had dau. J. Meade Fraley.Other children were Jame, G.G. Lucretia, Sarah. Possibly Thomas already head of household

Another name tie-in. Thomas Todd Locke Margaret Gheen, Joseph, James - had a sister named Jane Malissa Locke who m. Daniel Wood and also moved to Ark. with her family - these familes all went together and settled in same area. An elderly cousin told me years ago that Thomas T. Gheen served as Overseer on Locke Plantation in Ark.
