My grandparents came to the US about 1908 from St. Imier, Switzerland. They were Daniel and Rosa Gfeller. The name was apparently changed at about the time of their arrival. They brought 10 children with them, and three more (including my father Fred) were born in the US - in Michigan. All but three of them died before the age of 23 of TB.
I still have second cousins in Switzerland whom I've visited several times there. One is named Roland Gfeller, and is my dad's double first cousin - their mothers were sisters (Grunenwalds), and their dads were brothers.
Do you see any possibility of a realationship here?
