We have compiled some information and would love to see what you have. Our lineage begins with Hans in 1680 but found some mention of the Gfeller name back in 1301. My mother mentioned a Grandpa Jordi which I assumed was linked somewhere with the Gfeller line.

Hi Mrs Johnson
I read your lines about your research of the link between the names Gfeller and Jordi. I am living in Switzerland and my ancestors are from the Kanton Bern (so do I and I still live in this part of CH). Perhaps I can help you becouse JORDI is also a very commun name here around. And perhaps I discover other secrets about my family. Sincerely Yours
DG

Hi Daniel,
Just found your message and it threw me for a minute- I have a brother named Dan Gafeller.
My grandmother was an Iseli and married Jacob Gafeller (Gfeller) originally. My great grandmother Iseli was the widow of Carl Arnold Iseli and she married John Jacob Jordi, a widower with six children. I have quite a bit of info on the Gfeller lines to share. I am so anxious to find out more about family in Switzerland. I know Carl Arnold Iseli died April 23, 1894 in Biel but can't find any birth date or parents for him.

Gfeller name in our line came from Bern, Switzerland. They are German. Some of our line moved to Germany and then to U.S. Gfeller is listed in the Oath of Allegiance signed by all males 21 and older when the French invaded Switzerland- hope this helps. I have not found the name Gfeller elsewhere. When the one family moved they changed the spelling to Gaefeller.

I am not sure whether my line of Gfeller is related to Peter, but I was hoping to research this and find out. I do know the family originated from Canton Bern, Switzerland.
My gg grandmother is Anna Gfeller, who was born in Bern Switzerland around 1846, married Karl Meyer, and had a number of children with him. They immigrated to the US sometime around 1870 (not sure of year) and settled in Holmes County, Ohio, then Berne, Indiana. She died in 1920 and is buried at the MRE Cemetery outside of Berne with her husband Karl Meyer (died 1915). Karl Meyer was also from Canton Bern and was born 1843. Any information about their ancestry or possible link with your family would be greatly appreciated!
