I am looking for information on the ancestry/origins of Leonard Gfell/G'fell, resident of Toledo, Ohio, born circa 1844 (most likely born in Baden, Germany). Leonard was the father of Henry (born in Toledo, Ohio in 1885), Anna, and Laura Fell, and possibly other children. Please e-mail me at AFox120273@aol.com. Thanks!

Surnames: Gfell
Several Gfell family members left Grissheim, Baden (today, part of Germany) in 1854. They sailed from Belgium, part of the group of 100 people from Grissheim who emigrated together.

The Gfell families originally settled in northern Ohio. Many Gfell records are available on the LDS web site. Type in Gfell, and do a search. Next, click in the upper right-hand side, to indicate Germany.

Jane, Can you or anyone tell me more about the group of 100 who left Grissheim in 1854? My ancestor, Columbus Schlegel left Grissheim in 1854 and may have been part of the group.
