I just opened this board for the uncommon surname: Geye.
As far as I can tell, there are 2 origins of the surname Geye in the USA. One is descended from Germany and this is the origonal name. The other is descended from Switzerland (I think) and the name was changed at some point.
I am of the Geye's descended from Germany.

Hi,
My great grandfather was Abraham Geye, born in 1844, to Nicholas Rudolph & Barbara Anna Geye in Meienried, Switzerland. He and his brother Nicholas settled in Texas. Their farm in Comanche County, Texas is still in the Geye family.
