Looking for Gevers from Latvia
I am looking for information on Eli Sabtha Gever (or Gevers, as he may have been known). My father is named after him (born 1927), and his Great Grandfather was Kalman Gever. They were from Vitibsk or Plotzk, two cities in Latvia. Please contact me if you have any information, as we have not had any luck yet. Thank you!

Re: Looking for Gevers from Latvia
Hi Ben,
Certainly still interested in learning about my relatives! Where are the Gevers in your family from? What do you know about Kalman? Do you know any details about their families? What year did they come to the States? Write back if you have any information. Thanks.

Re: Looking for Gevers from Latvia
Hello, Jacqueline,
I'm sorry I can't be of much help regarding Eli but I found out after about 40 or so years, that my Gever ancestry traces back to Latvia. My paternal grandfather was Samuel Gever and he had three sons named, from oldest to youngest, Gabriel, Nathan, and Julius(my father); all are deceased.
Best Regards, Scott

Re: Looking for Gevers from Latvia
Wow!! I think we have those names on our family tree too! My g. grandfather Shlomo( Solomon) was the son of Kalman ( Klonomos) Gever. The head of the family was Eli Gever. The only dates I have is of my grandmother, daughter of Shlomo, Leah, born in 1882. What is your father's name? By the way, my g.grandfather changed his namme to silverman when he married Bat- Sheva ( bessie) SilverI have a big family wedding pho I would like to share with you if you think we have a connection.
Regards,
Annette
