DURANT, Iowa -- Malinda Geurink, 96, of Durant died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Crest Health Care in Davenport.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. The Rev. Darin Lovelace will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist Mabyn Fox. Pallbearers are John Denkmann, John Denkmann Jr., Charles Liliethal, Jim Knudson, Ron Hansen and Shawn Jepsen. Burial will be at the Durant Cemetery in Durant.

Memorials may be made to the Durant Royal Neighbors of America.

Mrs. Geurink was born on May 15, 1905, in Muscatine County, the daughter of Alvin and Laura Luedert Schuster. She married Albert Geurink on April 30, 1955. He preceded her in death July 5, 1997.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, Durant Camp.

Survivors include two great-nieces and a great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a brother, Walter Schuster.

DURANT, Iowa -- Leroy A. Geurink, 74, Durant, died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at Manor Care Nursing Home, Davenport.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 24, at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. The Rev. Darin Lovelace will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist, Deb Mohr. Casket bearers are Luke Geurink, Jeff Geurink, Bill Cawiezell, Bob Cawiezell, John Cawiezell and Jim Hamilton. Burial will be at the Durant Cemetery, Durant, with military rites conducted by the Durant American Legion Post 430.

Mr. Geurink was born Feb. 19, 1930, in Muscatine County, the son of Alfonso and Leona Kook Geurink. He married Elizabeth F. Altmann Feldhahn on Jan. 24, 1953, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 1994.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953-55 attached to the 293rd Grave Registration Company.

He farmed in Cedar County, retiring in 1970. He later worked for B&B Feeds, Wilton, until he purchased it in 1976. He owned and operated Geurink and Son Feed until it was purchased by Duffe Grain in 1987. He continued to work for Duffe Grain, retiring in 2000. He still worked part-time until his death. He was one of the oldest Quad-City Times paperboys, still delivering until his stroke four weeks ago.

He was a life member of the Durant American Legion Post 430. He enjoyed polka music and was the neighborhood lawn man.

Survivors include a son, Randall Geurink and wife, Polly, of Durant; a stepdaughter, Judy Morton and husband, Keith, of Blue Grass; a brother, Bernard Geurink and wife, Sally, of Durant; a sister, Elaine Thede and husband, Larry, of Bloomington, Ill.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
