I am trying to research my grandfather, born in Cooke County, Texas on July 22, 1876. His father was William M. Geurin and his mother Emma (Emmar) Nivens. He married Alice Melinda Katira Jenkins on June 9, 1897. Do you have any information?

The daughter's name was Ethel Geurin Scholdburg, born in 1898. As for the other question, her father, Charles Wesley Geurin, was from Cook County, Texas. He had four brothers and one, possibly two, sisters: Henry Edward, Lena, Albert, John, Luther and Corda(?). Henry Edward (who I believed was called Edward) was born March 13, 1874, in Cook County, TX, married Annie James on July 31, 1892, in Colorado City, TX, and died on May 13, 1955, in Stanton, Texas.

Their father, William M. Geurin, born January 16, 1851, was married in Montague County, TX, to Emma Nivens. He was born in Tennessee, she in Alabama. Apparently they didn't stay in Montague County long, since Henry was born 10 months later in Cook County.

Hope this helps.

You do know that Cooke County Texas borders Montague and many people who lived in Montague had children born in Cooke County.

It seems that Corda Geurin is the daughter of William H Geurin & Emma Nivens. I found Emma living with Corda on the 1910 Census:

1910 Census, Parks, Stephens, Oklahoma, pg 279A
Robert V, Cardia, Purcey, & Emma Vaughn
Emma Guernig (mominlaw)

**Note: Emma does not list children/children living.**

However, I cannot find Emma again. More info on Corda:

1920 Census, Lowrance, Murray, Oklahoma, pg 50A
Robert, Corda, Pernie, Emma, Owen, Inez, & Frances Vaughn

1930 Census, Precinct 3, Fannin, Texas, pg 38A
Bob, Pearney, & Owen Vaughn

MAYBE CHILDREN:
1930 Census, Helena, Alfalfa, Oklahoma, pg 111A
Pupils at West Oklahoma Home for White Children
Inez, Fannie Mae, & Oma Vaughn

World War I Draft Registration Cards, , Stephens, Oklahoma.
Robert Vaughn (wife and 5 children)

Robert Vaughn & Corda Geurin marriage record on familysearch.com
29 Sep 1905 Fannin County, Texas

According to a submitted tree on Ancestry, Corda died in 1921 in Oklahoma. Robert died 1962 in Arizona.

Corda's death in 1921 seems likely since Robert had only the older children in 1930, with the possibility I found them in the Children's Home (although Alfalfa County is VERY far from Stephens/Murray county area).
