Getchel/Getchell/Gitchell, William - LaVerne / Hannah SANDAHL
In the 1920 census of Hennepin, Minnesota, I have discovered a William Getchell who was married to Hannah (Sandahl) and they have a daughter LaVerne.
William is born in Wisconsin about 1893 LaVerne is born in Minnesota about 1915
There is a smudge over the name Getchell. Very difficult to make out the actual spelling. At first I thought it was Tetchild, but have come to the conclusion there is no such name. What looks like a T could be a G.
Would like to find out more about this family.

Re: Getchel/Getchell/Gitchell, William - LaVerne / Hannah SANDAHL
I have a Parker Gitchell who was born in Wyoming Co., N.Y. who ended up in Minnesota in 1912, per his niece's obituary. Might be a connection, maybe not. I believe he was in St. Paul at the time. Am trying to find Parker in the census.

Thank you for your note. Seems most of the Getchell's come from Maine, NY, etc. This family probably does as well. I will keep your note for reference. This sure has been a block wall.

Re: Getchel/Getchell/Gitchell, William - LaVerne / Hannah SANDAHL
I am helping a friend who has a g-grandfather Parker Getchell who died in St, Paul 28FEB1925. His parents were Cyrus and Anna Gitchell of Wyoming County, NY. Parker came to St. Paul in the early 1870s and lived there until his death.
We are searching for Cyrus and Anna's ancestors and hopefully make a connection to Samuel Getchell/Gatchall of the 1600s. Do you have any info that would help?
We are happy to share any of the info we have on the decendants of Parker.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: Getchel/Getchell/Gitchell, William - LaVerne / Hannah SANDAHL
I have never been able to get any further than Cyrus Gitchell and Amna (that's the way one of her decendants says it's spelled). Parker's oldest brother, John Morris, who is my gggrandfather, had a son named Allison who lived in Michigan. I did find an Allison from somewhere on the eastern border of New York State. I "think" it was Argyle but not sure. Will have to look it up. I never could connect them though. Allison is an uncommon name for a man and I thought maybe they were grandson and grandfather. I have traced Parker somewhat but don't have all there is on him and his family. I will e-mail you in a few days after I have looked more closely at my notes. If I can help you out any just let me know.
