Looking for Help and advice - Charles Gepp

I'm anxiously looking for a Charles Gepp born in Romford in 1829. He married Sarah Easter in 1851 and had two children -(Elizabeth) Jane (born 1865) and Henry (born 1860). At some point I believe both Charles and Sarah died as the children are in the St Marlebone workhouse in the 1871 census.

I beleive that Charles' mother may have been called Susannah, but can find no more evidence of this family. Can anyone give me any advice of where to look next? I've tried the IGI site to no avail!

Thanks

Jessica

Jessica,

I am related to Henry Gepp born in 1860, he and his sister Jane were in the Marlebone workhouse in the 1871 census, but their parents were Henry Gepp and Mary Ann Sweetapple. My source is Henry's birth certificate. I am also aware that Jane was married to James Sherlock.

Hope this helps.

Hello Deb

Thank you so much for replying. I must have my sources mixed up. I was aware of a Sweetapple connection but couldn't find it yet. Perhaps I have connected Jane and Henry to the wrong Gepp's. I was also aware of the children being in the workhouse but don't know what happened to the parents. Are you aware of this?

Family legend also holds that the Sweetapple's could have been affluent. Do you know anything about this family?

Thanks so much again for replying.

Jessica

Jessica,

I have Henry dying in June 1869 and Mary Ann in Sept 1870.

Can you tell me how you are related to them?

Deb

Hi Deb

(Elizabeth) Jane Gepp was my second great Grandmother. She had a long life and LOTS of children with my second great Grandfather James Sherlock.

I'd traced the Sherlock's back for a while and decided to try and trace the female line. I'm glad I did as it seems an intriguing story. If you wanted any further information about Jane I have a little. My Grandmother remembers her and called her 'Little Nan' as she was so small.

Thanks for the information.

Jessica
