Researching Mark GEPP, denoted in his son's (also Mark) Baptism at Buriton, Hants. in 1834 as "Coachman of Downley" (assumed to be the Hamlet near Ditcham Park).
Mark GEPP was in Hertford Place, London by 1854, still working as a coachman.
Interested in the GEPP name and it's relationship to JEPP and other variants.

The Gepp surname in England is native of Essex, so your Mark Gepp of Downley is likely to have roots there. I have a number of Gepp ancestors from the Chelmsford area.

I am researching the Gepp Family oin Australia.
THOMAS GEPP (M.R.C.V.S.) was born in 1819 at the Village of HOCKLEY near South-End -On Sea, ESSEX, ENGLAND ( not far from CHEMLSFORD).
Thomas the son of a Essex farmer sailed for Australia with Colonel Light aboard " The Rapid", arriving at Holdfast Bay in September 1836.

He made two return trips to England to select horse breeding stocks for the settlers at Jamestown. In 1838--40 returning with a wife Ann Francis and a brother Issac and his wife. (Some doubt exists if Issac and Thomas were brother or cousins)

If you have anyinformation that may link into this plaese contact me.
