Surnames: Geoghagan, Deely
This name is new to me in my research. What is the correct pronunciation? What are alternate spellings? Thanks for the help.

In the US it is pronounced gay-gen with hard g's a long a and a soft e. In Celtic it is pronounced similarly, but with more of a distinction on the eo at the beginning, and I believe with something more on the ha before the gen. It is often spelled with Mc or Mac - my family is McGagin.

Thank you. It really had us stumped -- we could come up with a number of variations, but I don't think any of them were right. :-)

My husbands mother was a Geoghagan and the family pronouces the name - "GO"-Hagen. In my research I find many different spellings but for the most part all of my husbands people spell it Geoghagan
