Geohagans in Lexington Kentucky

Surnames: GEOHAGAN-GAHAGAN-GEOGHEGAN-GEOGHAN ETC.
I am seeking any family ancestor information on the following GEOGHAGANS.

Their surnames on published records vary from GEOGHEGAN, GEOGHAGAN, GOHAGAN, GEOGHAN, GAHAGAN, etc.

So any variation may apply.

Since they all were in Lexington Kentucky during the same period, I suspect they are related:

----E. GOHAGAN-GEOGHAN (E is most likely for Elizabeth or Ellen); she was born in Ireland about 1795. She died in Lexington, Ky, in December 1850.

Elizabeth/Ellen is very likely the mother of the following:

----Margaret , possibly a daughter; born about 1817 in Ireland; married name is Coffield ;

----Fannie (Frances ?) , born in Washington DC in about 1818, died unmarried in Lexington Ky in March 1899.

---- Mary, per US census records, was born in Ireland in about 1820-21; she married William H. REORDAN-RERDAN in Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, on Feb. 4, 1842.

----Samuel, born in Kentucky, in about 1829,

----Ellen, born in Kentucky in about 1833, and later married Thomas White in US; she died January 1907 in Lexington Ky.

----Ann, or Anna, born in Kentucky in about 1835. Later married Daniel T. Murphy; she died in Lexington in October 1910.

Other GEOGHEGANs:

Patrick GEOGHEGAN, born about 1779, in Ireland; died in Lexington KY on Sept. 18, 1834. There is evidence suggesting Patrick may be the father of the above children and the spouse of Elizabeth/Ellen.

Another Geoghegan, but I don’t know if he is related to the above:

Doctor F. B. Geoghagen, who died in Lexington on January 28, 1846. Death notice said he’d been in Lexington for 10 years. Origin unknown.

The birth dates were calculated from data on US census sheets; some individual’s birth years varied from census to census, so there is some margin of error in the birth years shown.

Do any of these names look familiar to anybody ?

Thanks

My mother is from Ireland. She was born and raised there and most of her family still lives in the village where she grew up. She often said that names that end in "gan" such as yours, Geoghegan, and hers, Hartigan, denote true Irish heritage. I have a map of Ireland which lists family names, the traditional family seats they are associated with, and family crests. I found McGeoghegan, which would be the original and true spelling. The family seat is located along the southern region of county Westmeath, nearly due west of Dublin. Your family crest is that of a red lion on a white field and three red hands; two in each of the upper corners, one directly below the upright lion.
I know this is not information you have requested, but may find of interest.
