Frank: Are you from Toledo. I have a letter dtd July 2nd, 1935 from Louis J. Geoffrion of Waltham, Mass. to Sister Caroline (Sisters of Notre Dame) in Toledo. Do you have this letter too? My Grandmother was Delphine Victoria (Della) Shindler, nee Geoffrion.

Hello Buzz,

No, I'm not from Toledo. I'm from Massachusetts but I'm related to the Toledo Geoffrions. Louis J. Geoffrion was my granduncle. No, I don't have the letter you mention. I do have copies of one or two letters he wrote to other Geoffrions about genealogy. Your grandmother, Delphine, was my 4th cousin in the Geoffrion line and 7th cousin in the Le Messier line. That makes you and I 6th and 9th cousins respectively.

Thanks, Frank, for the message. I am not 100% sure. but I believe this is how my part of the Geoffrion family goes back.

I. Delphine Victoria Geoffrion, b. 7 Apr 1889 in Toledo, OH, d. 16 Jun 1972, in Defiance, OH (my grandmother)

II. Zepher (or Zephirin) P. Geoffrion, born 28 May 1857 in Canada, died Toledo, OH (no date)
married Josephine Chaput, b. Canada, d. 11 May 1948, Toledo, OH

HERE IS WHERE IT GETS HAZY FOR ME. I believe Zepher's father was Joseph, but not sure.

III. Joseph Geoffrion
IV. Pierre Geoffrion B. 18 Sep 1792

From Pierre, I can follow your geneaology along with the letter from Louis Geoffrion all the way back to Pierre Joffrion, b.circa 1634.

If you can fill in any gaps, I'd really appreciate it. You can contact me through this Message Board, or at my eMail address: buzzdotcom@ameritech.net
Thanks again, Buzz

I'm part of the Toledo Geoffrions with relatives in Southern Michigan, Montreal and now California. Part of our clan left Montreal in the mid 1700's and moved to New Orleans and the name was changed to Jeffrion.

I am curious about your letter from Louis G. My grandfather's brother & sister were married to Geoffrions in Waltham, MA. Felix Geoffrion built homes on Noonan St and one of them served as a church until the French community had enough money to build their own. The church (then called Lafayette Hall ) is now called the Waltham Museum. There is a book about Waltham in which the Geoffrion family is highlighted. Louis G. was a contractor as was my gfather(Zoel Leger). Do you know Louis G's parents? Could you tell me about the letter? Felix had a gdaughter born in 1896 who became Sister Imelda. gphiggins@mediaone.net

Does anyone have any information on the Jeffrion's from New Orleans. My father is Thomas Weldon Jeffrion and my grandfather was Thomas Jeffrion who married Laura Eura Jackson. I know my grandfather had a brother named Louis.
