Geoffrions from Varrennes

Surnames: Geoffrion
My ggg grandfather was Joseph Geoffrion b. 1827. He was from Varrennes, Quebec. He migrated to New York then finally settled in West Sprinfield, Hampden county, MA. His name was changed to Jefferson sometime in between the move to America. I have dates and names but I am desperately trying to piece together. Josephs' fathers name was Peter Geoffrion, his mothers' name I believe was Julie or Julie Anne. There is also a Gabriel Geoffrion, Pierre Geoffrion, Jean-Baptiste, Marguerite Fountaine and Madeleine Delpee. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Lorraine,

Would this be Joseph Geoffrion, born Feb. 9, 1827 in Varennes, married Adéline Verret around 1846, married Éuphémie Dubois around 1868 and died in Springfield in 1913? He had 9 children, mostly, or all, born in Plattsburg, NY?

Yes, it would! Joseph Jefferson was my ggg grandfather, born 2/9/1827. This is on my Grandmothers side. How far back can you go? Any relation to me? Thanks for your help.

Frank,
Sorry I should of read all of your previous posts. I see that Louis J. Geoffrion (Jefferson) was your grand uncle. His son, Albert J. Jefferson is my great grandfather. His daughter, Lorraine Mary Jefferson was my grandmother. I see the connection now. Thanks for your help. Did you meet any of them? Louis, etc.?

Hello Lorraine,

Josepn Jefferson was my 3rd cousin, 3 times removed and also my 6th cousin, 3 times removed. We share two different sets of ancestors.

I can take you back to France in the Geoffrion line. I will send you an attachment with the information I have on Joseph Jefferson's ancestors. I can't send that type of attachment with these postings so I will send it to your e-mail address which I believe is lorrainefetterly@sbcglobal.net . Is that right? I will send a second attachment which will be what I have on Joseph's descendants. I get as far as your grandmother's generation so I hope you will give me info on you and your parent's generations and also correct possible errors I may have on previous generations.

Hi Frank,
How exciting to find a long lost relative! Yes, that is my e-mail address so you can send there. I definetly can give you any info you may need. If you would like to correspond and trade any stories or family 'legends' that would be great as well. Feel free to e-mail me. Looking forward to talking with you.

Our ancestor came from Varrennes and his name was Octave Geofrrion. Geoffrion is my miaden name. What I know about Octave is that he came down to Las Vegas New Mexico on the trapper route from Canada. He marrried a Spanish woman from NM and we come from his line. We have letters from his sister who was named Marguerite I think. I hope this helps

Octave Geoffrion (decendent of Pierre Joffrion) is my great-great grandfather. He married Vincenta Baca from Las Vegas, NM. I also come from his line, his son Alfredo. My father has original letters from his sisters Odile and Marie Fecle. Our family has a photograph we believe are Octave, his daughter Louisa and son Jose, as well as a photograph believed to be Octave's sons Antonio, Alfredo and Jose. Edgar E. Geoffrion translated the letters in 1975 with a brief article of Pierre Joffrion (as I understand the named changed to Geoffrion in the late 1800s).
