I am looking for information about Sophia Geick.
She was married to Charles or Karl Grimm.
They had a daughter, Ella Marie Grimm, born 1/6/1892, died 10/25/1957.
Ella married Dudley D. Whitney and their son Charles D. Whitney is my father.
I would appreciate any information because I have been unable to find anything
about the Grimm or Geick side of the family.
Thanks! Chris

Hi Carol, thanks for responding. I have some information and I hope we can find a connection.

Sophia Geick is my great grandmother, b1868, d. 1923 in Belvidere, IL. m. 3/7/1889 to Karl Grimm, b. 1867, d. 1922

Their daughter, Ella Marie Sophia Grimm, b.1/6/1892, d 10/25/1957, married 8/1/1918 to Dudley Whitney, my grandfather. Their son Charles Whitney is my father.

That's about all I have. The Grimm's came from Germany but I don't know where. Karl Grimm's father is Charles Grimm, b. 5/6/1832, d. 4/5/1907, m. Caroline ______?

I have been at a "dead end" on the Grimm/Geick side of my family tree. Let me know if this makes a connection. I appreciate any information.

Chris

Carol,
I am not sure if Sophia is a relative, but my ancesters came from Mecklenburg, Germany also. My great, great grandparents were from there. I do not have their names with me at the moment, but it could very well be that we are related. I do know that my great, great, great grandparents on the Geick side were born in the 1700's. I do have information from them down. Please contact me. Joan Marie (Geick) Cortes

Surnames: Geick
Henry H Geick may be a grandson to Christian Geick, Sr. I don't have any information on the brothers of my great, grandfather. I do know their names were: William Henry Geick, Sr,(my grandfather's father), Heinrich Geick, Christian Geick, Jr, and and unknown male Geick, who died at 14 years of age while watching cattle. They were all born in Marnitz, Mecklenberg, Germany

Thanks Karin but I don't know if your Henry is a direct relative of mine or not. I really have nothing to go on. I have heard it is hard to get genealogical information concerning Germany because of all the border changes and whatnot. I have done some looking but have not found any information related to my family. CW
