I am working with a Geib family member who is interested in DNA studies on the Geib family. I have NOT been able, so far, to find any DNA studies on the Geib family. Does any reader have information on genetic genealogy (DNA) applied to the Geib family?

Are there alternative spellings of this family surname that I should be checking?

Jim, in Ohio
Genetic Genealogist for nine years.

I would be interested in following any studies on the GEIB surname. I understand that the surname of GIPE may have come from the GEIB name. I have a GIPE ancestor that I've not yet been able to link to the other Geib/Gipe families in the area of Pennsylvania where he initially resided. At least one of his sons has male descendants that could be encouraged to submit YDNA once a study has been established. If your family member creates a study, do post back and let us know.

"Looking for a relative of Jacob Geib, father immigrated from Germany. kids were Jacob, Bernard, and others. Father was Fran about 1870-1874 DOB, mother Anna, born in the 1860's, Jacob & Bernard 1914-1924 along with other siblings/children of Anna Heitkotter and Frank Geib from Germany.

Other related family members and ancestors are: Krone, Miller, Geib, Horber, Vilet, and Schwartz.

If you have connections to this family, please state which and what they are, as I have some information obtained that I would love to pass onto those related to this family and/or obtain missing connections to this family that came from Germany & Bavaria to the United States.

Much of this family ended up living in Aurora Illinois and Wisconsin into the late 1800's and 1900's

My maternal grandmother, Minnie Geib Wayman might have been a neice of Jacob Geib. Her father, Johan, immigrated to Pittsburgh from Germany with his brother, Jacob, and his
(Johan's) sons by a first marriage. Iam descended from
Johan through his second marriage to B. Hilf. My maternal grandmother Minnie Geib Wayman was their daughter.
