Searching for details of John Geen my GGGrandfather. Born around 1844-1855?. Occupation given as blacksmith. No details of his wife but certainly had 3 daughters - Evangeline (married Fred Edwards), Mary (my grandmother who married Edward Norman Chambers) and Kitty. All girls lived in and around Cardiff. Any information would be appreciated. Many thanks

Hello Sue. Not sure if you are the Sue with whom I already have contact, but certainly Evangeline, John the blacksmith are all related to my paternal grandfather, Albert Geen who was born in Cardiff and moved to Aberdare, South Wales. If you are not the Sue I know, then please feel free to get in touch. regards Beth (nee Geen)

Hello Beth, I am not the Sue you are already in contact with. Not sure if there is a connection but my paternal grandmother was born Mary Geen in Feb 1888. She had 2 sisters to my knowledge Evangeline (Eva) married surname Edwards and Kitty and in the 1950s they all lived in Cardiff. I have not done much research on this side but would be interested to know if your search has made any connection. Thanks Sue

Hello Sue. thanks for getting back to me. I will have a look at my tree that is on genes re-united as there are more Geens on there than are on my ancestry at present time. If you have also got a Genes re-united tree can you give me permission to have a look at it and in the meantime I will sort out what information is available on particularly John Geen, of whom there were many!! Good to hear from you. Beth

Hi again Sue. Have had a chance to look at your John Geen, and yes, we are definitely related. My paternal grandfather, Albert Geen was also born in Cardiff and was the step-son of Evangeline's mother - i.e., his mother was Emma Howe. This John Geen was married twice, and I believe that Evangeline's mother wass Caroline Crum. If you would like to have them, I have photographs of the family and will gladly send them to you. I have also contacts with other relatives of your's who are closely related. My own e-mail address is beth.neilly@btinternet.com Look forward to hearing from you. Beth Neilly
