My great aunt Clara BUNBURY married David GEEKIE in NewCastle, NewBrunswick, Canada. They had 8 kids. Jessie H. b. 1882, Thomas B. b. 1884, Rita M. b. 1886, Arthur W. b. ?, Lorna D. b. 1889, David Clare, b. 1892, Muir H, b. 1894 and Frank, b. 1895. I have no other information on them other than their birth. Clara's parents were born in Ireland.

I am married to a man also named Geekie. I suspect your grand uncle was from Scotland. It seems to be a Scottish name.

Good luck in your search.

Surnames: BUNBURY, GEEKIE
Clara BUNBURY married David GEEKIE, b. 1864 in Canada. I do not know about the GEEKIE side. I am descended from Clara BUNBURY. I have neglected this side of my genealogy and am starting up again on the BUNBURY side. Clara is the daughter of Thomas and Eliza BUNBURY. The Geekies had 11 children, all born in Canada.

Hi Verlaine,
Thanks for sending me a note. I tried to look at your message yesterday but couldn't pull it up for some reason. I'm real short on time today but will send you another email tomorrow.

Noticed your post on Geekie I have been doing alot of research on it the past while as it fits in my family tree.
Several times over I guess. The name has alot of different spellings geikie, giekie, giggie and a few others. If you want some info try looking in the New Brunswick archives site. It is free . All of David and Clare's children are listed there..some spelled differently..Good Luck. I am trying to find a link between Robert and Mary(Ritchie) Geikie ..Davids parents..and some of the first Geikies to settle there,,,,Not having much luck..lol....Good luck to you..

Thanks for your email.
I guess you mean New Brunswick, Canada? Although I've been given some information on some of the Geekies who emigrated to Canada, as well as the many variations in the spelling of the name, to my knowledge, I don't know at this time if any of the Geekies from my line also emigrated there.
Since I'm still mainly working on learning a little bit about my gtgrandparents' lives in Scotland before their emigration to the U.S., I'm really not researching other Geekie families from either other areas in Scotland or abroad.
Do you have any info on any of the Geekies from Perth or Dundee from the mid-late 19th century, specifically with the 1st names of James & David? If you do, will you please email me back with what you know?

Hi. My fiancee, Sean Geikie, is related to the lineage that you are speaking of. Sean is a 6th generation Geikie since they came over from Scotland after the Miramichi fire. There are so many of them it is really hard to sort out. I was talking to Sean's father, David Geikie, and he confirmed that he is related to Muir and those. I have been trying to find out exactly when Sean's ancestors came over. Are these the same you are looking for?
