Hi, I have been able to trace the family back to Acadia. there are other family members on line and I have been in contact with them. I have a web page about the family and it is located at http://www.mergetel.com/~labine. I will look into my data base and see if I have them in my data base on the family. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi:

Your message is a three years old but better late than never. This is my first time on this board and since I have been appointed the "Geddry" guru as opposed the Guidry, Guedry, Labine, etc. guru by "Le Guidry d"Asteur" or "Our Guidry Organization", I decided to reply. I hope you get this message.

Walter was my uncle. My father, his brother, was Bernard Geddry Senior. I'm junior but don't use the title. Julia was, of course, my aunt. I knew them both as a child. What is your relationship to them? I now live in Arizona, am married with 9 kids and 15 grandchildren. I'm 66 years old. I'm definitely going to the Guidry/Geddry reunion in Nova Scotia next year. Are you?

About 6 weeks ago, James Geddry, Walter's brother and the last of his generation died at 95 years old. I was close to him. Did you know him?

Bernie Geddry

Hi Bernie,
Is your Geddry line from Nova Scotia? My great-grandmother was born in Salmon River, her last name was spelled Jeddry, but I have also seen it spelled Geddry.

Yes...all of us, Jeddrys, Geddrys, Guedrys, Guidrys, etc. all started in Nova Scotia. My particulart branch of the family spells it GEDDRY but many of my cousins spell it with a "J". My grandfather Jean Adrian Geddry was born in Meteghan, He was the son of Evariste Geddry and Francoise Saulnier, my great grandparents. I know his brother James spelled his name Jeddry as did many others in the family. My father and I were both born in Massachusetts.

The last time I visited my cousins in the Meteghan/Saulnierville area was, believe it or not, 1965...but I plan to go back for the Geddry/Jeddry/Guidry family reunion in 2004. Maybe I'll see you there. Many of our Cajun Cousins will be there as well as some from Nova Scotia and New England. The last reunion in Houma Louisiana was in 1999 and 500 folks showed up. It was a ball.

I have extensive genealogical records. Tell me more about your father/grandfather/etc and I may be able to find our exact relationship. One thing is for certain...we're cousins.

My Acadian genealogy is as follows.

Claude Guedry and Maruerite Pettipas (all of us descended from him)

Pierre Guedty and Marguerite Brasseau

Augustin Gedrie and Marie Jeanson

Philippe Geddry and Angelique Theriau

Evariste Geddy (or Jeddry) and Francois Saulnier

Jean Adrian Geddry and Mary Powers

Bernard Geddry Sr. and Mildred Sheehan

Bernard Geddry Jr. (me) and Barbara Allen

I have six children by a 1st marriage and 3 more that came with my second. I am 66 years old, a retired physicist/microwave engineer and I live in Arizona.

Hi Bernie,
Thanks for the information. I wasn't able to make the 1999 reunion, so I am really looking forward to the one in 2004.

Hi cousins-
I am the eldest child of Phyllis, daughter of Frances (Geddry), daughter of Jean Adrian, son of Evariste and Mary Powers. I am currently working full time and part time so I don't have much time to play as I would like but happened on to this tennis match of a discussion and decided to put my 2 cents worth in. Bernie is my mom's cousin. She lives in TX -I live in Virginia and would like to know if someone needs any name information from Frances' descendants. Mom is a grandmother 14 times now...Aunt Eleanor invented and developed the balloon project which you see everywhere for the Children's Hospital-did you know-she used to work at Newington Children's hospital years back. Mom says one of her Uncles was called Irish because every summer he would pay for two to come over from Ireland and help them get started-have you heard this either of you? I think it was her Uncle Walter in fact. any feedback would be appreciated. Regards-diane marie
