Hi Dianne

I never heard that story about uncle Walter. Yes he was the one called "Irish". I never heard why until your email. Did you know uncle George was called "Bully" and Uncle Henry "Fish". My father Bernard Sr. was called "Nuthead", believe it or not, because of early baldness.

I correspond with cousin Eleanor a lot so I've got all the info on my aunt Frances side I need.. Thank you.

Are you aware of the Geddry reunion in 2004 in Nova Scotia??

Cousin Bernie

I stumbled across this board and was very interested. I am the son of Steven Geddry, son of Walter Leo Geddry and Eileen (Walsh) Geddry. Walter was the son of a Henry Valentine Geddry, Is that "fish"? I have a brother Matthew.

Hi Stephen,
Is your Geddry line also from Salmon River, Nova Scotia? Have you researched your line back to Claude? It's always interesting to see where everyone connects.

Hi Cousin,

Your Great Grandfather, Henry Valentine was my father's brother. Henry had 8 brothers, 3 sisters and one adopted brother. Henry was called "Fish" because he liked to fish and was very good at it. Simple as that. His brother George was called "Bully" because he was the older brother and was thought of as tough. Walter was called "Irish". He never told me why. My father, Bernard Sr. was called "Nuthead because of early balding (poor guy..what a nickname!)..

I live in Peoria Arizona now but originally I'm from the Boston area. I am 67 and retired after 40 years as a Physicist/Elecronic Engineer

I'm sure you are aware that the family hails from Nova Scotia and is "Acadian" in origen. Most of the family now lives in Louisianna now as a result of the dispersion of 1755. There was a big family reunion down there in 1999 and it was a blast. Five hundred family members showed up.Are you aware that there will be another reunion in 2004, this time in Nova Scotia? I'm going as are many Geddrys I know. Many of our Southern cousins are planning to come as well. There are many Geddrys and Jeddrys living in N. S. now and I presume most of them will attend too. Below is the link that will explain about the reunion. I hope you can come.

This reply is a long time coming. I believe my Walter Geddry is one and the same as your uncle who was known as Irish. His second marriage was to my mothers aunt Julia Sheehan.
