So I just looked at the family chart attached, and it looks like Levi Died in 1943. That would mean his 100th birthday party would have been in 1941. So I guess Laura was no longer living in Ogdensburg at that time. Hope that helps.

Hi Laura

Levi Gedbaw's parents were Francis Gedbaw and Mary Pare (Perry). Levi's brother Francis was my GGGrandfather. Levi and Francis were two of Francis and Mary's 12 children (I only know the names of five - Alexander, Francis, Levi, Margarite and Marie). Levi died July 29, 1950. You will find his obituary as well as a number of other articles about him in the online Ogdensburg newspaper I mentioned in my previous posting (Ralph and I believe your grandfather Richard's name also came up in searches). You might also find this short biography of Alexander Gedbaw (Gadbois) interesting (http://www.rootsweb.com/~onstormo/cboard/cb289.htm).
Regards
Brian

Laura,
Five years after I wrote the first query about Laura Gedbaw (daughter of Levi) , the mystery is solved. Last night I received a call from her grandson who had read the postings when he was looking for John Ring, my father (and he thought perhaps his grandfather.) He's right! Laura left Madrid on her own with the four girls, later married Lou Waters, lived in Madison, N.J. After Waters' death it came out that the girl's natural father was John Ring. So, I met my nephew on the phone..another miracle of the internet!
Hope you see this eventually.
Jackie

Brian,
The miracle of the internet...last night I received a call from Laura Gedbaw's grandson, who had read the postings here and realizd that my father is indeed the father of Laura's four daughters, thus, his grandfather. Laura was the daughter of Levi, married Lou Waters and raised the girls in Madison, NJ. So, I met my nephew on the phone! We hope to meet before long. Thank you for helping to unravel the mystery!!!
Regards,
Jackie

I am the dauughter of Laura's second daughter Dorothy. Jackie Ring and I have connected and greatly explored Jack Ring's relationship with Laura Gedbaw; her father, my bio grandfather. Laura lived in Madison, New Jersey all of her adult life after leaving Ogdensburg with her four girls when they were all very young. Three of the girls lived their lives and raised their families in New Jersey, while my mother married my father Grover Bagby and lived in California and Washington, D.C. mainly. The dates of two of the daughters graduating from Madison High would be correct. Laura married Lewis Waters when the girls were young and the couple raised them together - Lew was very devoted to them all - until Lew and Laura passed away late in their life. Although Jackie did not meet her half sisters because three passed away before Jackie and I connected, I shared with my mother the new information about Jackie, her unknown half sister, shortly before my mother passed away at 93 in 2010 in Portland, Oregon where she and my father retired in the early 1980s. Levi and Rachel were Laura's parents. Susan
