Surnames: Geck, Sturdyvin
I am new to the genealogy searching. My father had a cousin, Evelyn Sturdyvin who married a Francis J. Geck. When I was in highschool in the 1960s we took a train trip to Colorado and we visited them in Boulder. Can anyone shed any light on Francis J. Geck of Boulder, Colorado? I am not sure where Evelyn and Francis met. Evelyn was origianally from the Champaign, IL area.
Thanks for any help.
Marie

Evelyn was dean of women at University of Colorado, Boulder campus. Frank was a professor of art history and design. Also founded a historical society in boulder. Frank was my uncle. Died in 2006 at 105 years of age. There were no children, but Evelyn had a brother who had one daughter. Only remember her first name.

My uncle was Francis J Geck of Boulder, Colorado and my aunt was Evelyn (Sturdyvin) Geck. He developed a fairly extensive family history, which he kept updated until his death at 104 in Roseville, Michigan. Francis was born in Detroit in 1900 or thereabouts. His father, my grandfather, was named Jacob C. Geck and came to America from Obermullen (spelling?) Germany. Jacob ran a grocery store in Detroit at the corner of Tonsand and Lafayette. Frank lived in Detroit, Toronto, New York, Paris, Boulder, and Syracuse (not necessarily in that order.

If you're referring to a Francis Geck born Dec 20 1900 in Roseville, MI. Frank was an interior designer among other things. He designed the inside of the Fisher Mansion (Grosse Pointe, MI). I know he came back to Roseville (from Colorado) after his wife died (approx 1990). He lived until Sept 2005.
