I have Gebbia's in my family line. They also originated from Palermo Sicily. They went directly to New York, Brooklyn mainly. Most of the family shortly changed the last name to Gibbia. There are some Gebbia cousins remaining but they are few. My maternal great-grandfather was Paolo. He had a brother Gasper.

Don't know if this helps. Please respond if any names sound familiar.

I am searching for information on a Paolo
Gebbia who came thru Ellis Island in
1905 from Palermo Sicily and I think his
traveling companion was a Salvatore Gebbia
who was my grandfather. Do you have anymore
information.

I don't think they are the same Paolo Gebbia. My Paolo Gebbia was born approximately 1879 and was in the prior to 1898. I don't think he went back to Italy. He did have alot of brothers but no one in the family remembers a Salvatore.

Sorry I could not help you.

I have a Gaspare Gebbia in my family. He came from Alcamo Sicily through the port of Palermo to Brooklyn NY on September 1, 1919 age 25. He married Pauline LaRussa in Brooklyn NY and had several children.

He was my greatgrand father. He married Rose Gebbia for who I am named. He had a 8 chair barber shop in Houston,Texas
He died in 1928. My grandmother was his daughter Geneieve
Ethel Scott CArroll. The childern went from Gebbia to Scott.
My brother and I are looking for our family and want to to travel to Sicily to find our family. As you know the early immigrants were very close mouthed and we never learned the language Rose Mary Pedersen
