Surnames: GEBBIA
Hi all,
I now have an extensive family tree of the Gebbia family in the central part of the province of Palermo. This dates back to about 1680 or so. My relatives came from Roccamena in the province of Palermo; prior to that they came from Chiusa Scalfani, also in Palmero province.
If you'd like to see if there is a connection to your family, please email me with your name and the names of your relatives in Sicily. I'll let you know what I find.
PLEASE DO NOT REPLY BY POSTING ON THIS LIST AS I DO NOT CHECK IT VERY OFTEN.
thanks
Steve

Joe,
If you were born in Chiusa Sclafani, then there is a very strong chance that we are related. My grandfather's gt-gt-grandfather, Alfonso Gebbia, was born in Chiusa. As far as i can tell, all of the Gebbias in Roccamena are descended from him.
In order to make the link, though, I need some information from you. This will help me try to place your family in my family tree.
First, it would help if you could provide as much info on your direct Gebbia ancestors as possible. This would include names and birth dates of your parents, grandparents, and if at all possible, your great-grandparents.
Where did you enter the US - Ellis Island, New Orleans, or elsewhere? Where did your family settle?
It would be best not to post this info on a public message site like this. Instead, please email me directly at:
- steve_cougar@yahoo.com -

If I can find the link between our families, I'll add your info to my chart and then send you the file with the whole chart.

thanks
Steve Gebbia

Steve,
My Great Grandmother was Leonarda Gebbia (B. 1826-D. 1879)She married Andrea Sorci(Sorgi). I have their my grandfather, Gabriel's birth records from Cerda Sicily in the province of Palermo. If you have any knowledge of her family or Andrea Sorci's I would be deeply appreciative.

Thank you in advance,

Gabriel Sorgi
