My great-great grandfather, William Geaney, lived in CorkCity, and at some point had a farm (at a place called All Saints Well) halfway between Blarney and Cork. Wiliiam's cousin was Michael Geaney. Michael had a cottage in Cork on Fair Hill Road, I believe. In the 1970's I visited this cottage and a larger home built on the premises, and still in the family. Inside was an old hutch cabinet supposedly built by the cousins Michael and William. There was also in the home a large photograph of a Mary Geaney who married a Geaney. Others related to the family were a Mae Murphy and a couple named Gaughan. My great-grandfather, Michael Geaney, left Cork and went to Nenagh, Tipperary. He had a shop and made coaches. His first wife, Kathleen Kent (I think) died; he married a second time - Ellen Spillane - had four children by this second wife - Edward, John (Jack), Michael, and Bridget. His second wife died, and he married a third time - to a woman named Tessie- they had a son named Patrick and perhaps other children. My grandfather, Edward Geaney, son of Michael Geaney and his second wife, left Nenagh around 1915 and went to New York. He had two sons, my father, Edward, and my father's brother, Richard. If any of this information means anything to any other Geaney, please contact me. l and my family live in Clinton, MA.

Dear Patricia, My name is Sean Mason and my Mother was a daughter of John Geaney, a brother to your Grandfather Edward.
John married Winnifred and had 6 children, 3 girls and 3 boys. Many of my cousins still live in Nenagh and 2 daughters and 2 sons of John and Winnifred still survive.
There are photos of John and his Father standing outside the shop also some artifacts in the museum in Nenagh.
John Geaney died in 1977 and my Grandmother a few years later.
Hope this has helped a little Patricia.
Kind regards, Sean

Hey Pat,
It's your cousin Paul down here in Florida. I just stumbled onto this website and noticed your name so I thought I would say hello. Hope all is well with your family. We're heading up to Maine to see the rest of the family in a few weeks. I'm sure we'll have a great time. By the way, one of my oldest son's best friends will be attending Westpoint in the fall. He's very excited. Take care and have a great Fourth of July. Paul

He and his wife had 6 children - my Mother Maureen RIP was one of them. He is buried along with his wife Winefride , his father Michael, mother Ellen , brother Michael, and other family members in the family grave in the old Abbey in Nenagh. My wife and I were there earlier this month. a.mason84@btinternet.com here in the UK Regards Tony Mason

I don't know where this ties into you enquiry but my Greatgrand-father was a Patrick Geaney who married a Kate O' Keefe, They had 6 sons and two daughter (one of whom died at infancy). They're sons included Patsy, Bat, Micheal, and my Grandfather Daniel (better known as Danny). He married Joan Gramham in 1956 and have 2 sons, Seamus and Paddy (my father) and one daughter Catherine.
Unfortuately I don't know much about further back but I hope this is of some help,
Regards, Joanne Geaney.
