Matt-
I was scrolling through some old e-mails and wasn't sure if I replyed to this or not. My family originated in Czecholslovakia (sp?) That's where the name Gdovin comes from. My grandmother told me that when people came over to the states some changed their names to Goodwin and or dovin.

First I have a question, I was in touch w/ someone (I think his name was Mat) a few years ago via chat room talking about Gdovins. (I think the guy I was talking to at the time was like 21) Was that you by chance? Does or did your family reside on the East Coast like in PA? From what I understand that's where some of my distant relatives reside. I'm trying to get info on my grandfather's side. His name was Albert and he had a brother name George. (Who would have been my great uncle.) The history of George and Georges father (whos name has slipped my mind, I'll have to look it up.) is facinating. I'd love to find those connections. The difficulty in all of this is that the names in my family tree are common names back then, like George and it's hard to differintiate between who is who. Was George your grandfather?

Jamie,
Let me take a look at what I have from my grandmother, Lois Gdovin. We have a lot of George's on the Gdovin side, which makes it difficult to tell who is who. I'll take a look and let you know.

I am researching the family tree on my wfe side of the family and she has a George Dovin, BD 5/30/11, married to Marcella (nee Dallabetta) BD 12/10/17, who we think resided in Williamson, IL.
Any connections in your tree?

Helen Marie Gdovin was born on 11 May 1900 to George Thomas Gdovin Sr. and Mary M. Larko. Siblings were George Thomas Jr., Albert James, James P., Elizabeth, Steven, Leonard, Mary M., Martha Louise, and Joseph L. Maternal grandparents were Steven Larko and Mary Rochinsky (aka Roskovensky or Ross). I do not know who her paternal grandparents were but would like to know. I have copies of Helen's obituary and death certificate and much more info. Contact me directly.

Re: George Douglas Gdovin
George Douglas Gdovin was the son of George Thomas Gdovin Jr. and Josephine Marvin Trail. George Thomas Gdovin Jr. was the son of George Thomas Gdovin Sr. and Mary M. Larko. I have nothing further on the Gdovin line but am trying to find out more. Mary M. Larko was the daughter of Steven Larko and Mary Rochinsky (aka Roskovensky or Ross). I have nothing further on those lines. I have lots more info on these families (dates, other family members, etc.). Please contact me directly.
