Mr. Siegmund, we would like to communicate further with you about Antoine Gazda. On Nov 21 he will be inducted into the RI Aviation Hall of Fame, and we are trying to find a descendant to whom we might present the award.

Any aditional background info or anecdotes would also be helpful.Do you still have the piece of furniture?

In November 1946, I won the so-called "big prize" at a model airplane contest in Providence, Rhode Island. I won the Gazda Trophy...which is one of the very few awards I have retained from almost 70 years of model airplane competitions. It's a beautiful three-handled silver-plated cup...about 8" in diameter and it stands about 7" high.

Engraved upon it is as follows: GADZA TROPHY
CLASS C
SECOND ANNUAL
FROSTBITE CONTEST
1945
Rhode Island Aeromod

If you wish, I can send you a photo of the trophy/cup. I seem to remember that he led the development of the anti-aircraft proximity fuse...that became so important during WW-II
